Q. What is a Flashback Football Camp?

A. Trojan Flashback Football, "A Fantasy Camp for Grown-up Kids", is a fantastic opportunity to experience the tradition of national championship USC football up-close. The camp blends the past with the present. You know these names, right? Ron Mix, Marlin McKeever, Ronnie Lott, Paul McDonald, A.D., Bill Cunerty, Charles White, John Vella, John Jackson, Craig Fertig, Rod Martin, Sam "Bam" Cunningham, Bob Jensen, Rod Sherman, and John Papadakis. All of these Trojan Greats joined forces with USC's current coaching staff to blend the past traditions of USC Football with the championship environment that has been re-established by Coach Pete Carroll and his staff. The result: Trojan Flashback Football!

Q. Where is the camp held?

A. In the very same facilities as the championship USC Football Team prepares, practices and plays - the football strategy room at Heritage Hall, the Brian Kennedy Field, the players' locker room on campus. You will get to eat at the players table for lunch, and have dinner at Papadakis Taverna. And for you, we make one upgrade that student-athletes don't get - that is, you sleep in three-star accommodations at the Downtown Los Angeles Marriott.

Q. Do I actually get to play in the Los Angeles Coliseum?

A. You bet! The final session of your Trojan Flashback Football camp will be staged in the Los Angeles Coliseum. You will personally experience all of the great Coliseum traditions: The Trojan Walk, dressing in the USC locker room, the pre-game motivational speech by the coach, walking down the tunnel as a team to the chant of "War Time", and competing on the field.

Q. A Football Camp at my age?

A. Your memories of USC Football might extend only to Carson Palmer . . . or they might stretch as far back as Frank Gifford. It doesn't matter, because Trojan Flashback Football is great at any age. In the past, our youngest participant in Flashback Camp was in his early 20's and our oldest participant was three times that age. No one will force you to run the 40- yard dash - it is up to you. Everyone has fun, makes friends, and takes away a unique experience, no matter what age.

Q. What if I'm out of shape?

A. No problem! Trojan Flashback Football is designed for the enjoyment of participants of nearly any physical ability, and physical exertion is entirely up to you. You can participate as a Player, Coach or Owner - with physical demands somewhat greater as a Player, and less as a Coach or Owner. Please see below for more details. Trojan Flashback Football provides a unique, small-group learning environment, and the emphasis is on having fun and being safe.

Q. Do I need to be a jock?

A. Absolutely not! Some of our participants in the past never played football competitively. One of our best participants was a woman! This camp is for anyone who loves the game, and who loves the tradition and pageantry of USC football. Everyone in the camp supports everyone else - it is a team atmosphere and everyone is there to have fun.

Q. Well, okay, but there must be more to it than just that?

A. You're right! Classroom chalk-talks. Animated play analysis. Controlled competitions - on and off the playing field - maximize your learning and enjoyment opportunities. Half-line drills, skeleton offense, 7-on-7 . . . the same structure utilized by top college and pro teams have been incorporated into Trojan Flashback Football.

Q. I don't want to get tackled!! How do you handle that?

A. If you've ever been out to watch Coach Pete Carroll's teams practice, you'll be amazed at the pace and intensity with a minimum amount of contact; oftentimes without pads. And there is no tackling at the camp.

Q. So I won't be suiting up in full pads?

A. Right. This is a non-contact football camp in shorts, without helmets or shoulder pads.

Q. Is it okay to ask Pete Carroll or a past Trojan great for their autograph?

A. They'd love it! You are at the camp as their guest, and they are available for autographs, photos, conversation, and for great war stories about the season just past and the season to come.

Q. All of this sounds great, but if I get down in a football stance, I'm not sure that I can get out of it .

A. Trojan Flashback Football is definitely for you! A customized format offers you three levels of participation; each one focused upon you experiencing USC Football at its best:

•  As a Flashback Player, you'll participate in all of the drills and competitions - individually and as a team member - in each session.

•  As a Flashback Coach, you'll make play selections and personnel decisions just like a USC Coach. Additionally, you can participate in the drills and/or competitions of your choice.

•  As a Flashback Owner, you evaluate the assembled talent, draft each player for your team, and work with your Flashback Coaches to prepare your team for all of the Flashback competitions. Can you compete?? Hey, you own the team!! . . . you can do what you want! But, if you're the winning Owner, you're the VIP guest of USC Football on a road trip next Fall!

Q. What's the best part about the camp?

A. Now that's a hard question! For some participants, it is one-on-one with Pete Carroll or other coaches; for others, it's the football strategy sessions; for still others, it is playing the game at the Brian Kennedy practice field or the Coliseum. And everyone walks away with a new group of friends, great memories, and keen insights into Trojan Football and what it takes to compete at the top of Division I football.

Q. What's the worst part about the camp?

A. Having to say goodbye, of course! The good news is Trojan Flashback Football will be back next season! And, as with this year's Flashback alumni, Fall gatherings cropped up outside Fed Ex Stadium (opening game), the L.A. Coliseum, the USC-Notre Dame Luncheon, and in homes as far away as Cincinnati , OH .

There's more, so be sure to click through our website. But click quickly!! Because of the popularity of last year's Trojan Flashback Football, these camps will fill up and space is limited.

Q. Do you have to be a Trojan alum or even a great Trojan fan to participate?

A.  No, but it helps!  Seriously, neither dates on diplomas nor colors of tatoos are checked at registration!  If you like football, want to learn more, and want to be in a great, high-energy environment, then Trojan Flashback Football is for you.

Q. Is there a minimum age?

A.  Yes, you must be at least 21 years old in order to participate in the camp.
